Fort York National Historical Site, Toronto, ON.

The local piece of history that will be discussed throughout this blog post is that of the lands and buildings but most importantly the current exhibit on the Fort York National Historical Site. This location was the original site of the War of 1812 battle that helped to create the modern Toronto that we know today. This site should be of public interest as these buildings and grounds hold the largest collection of original war buildings and have been allocated for public visits and programs to further educate people on their history.

The current exhibit on the Fort York National Historical site is called “Transforming Grief: Loss and Togetherness in COVID 19″ and allows for people to reflect on the recent pandemic and focus on how people continue to live and exist with the aftermath of what the pandemic has brought to this day and age. This exhibit allows for community members, artists, volunteers, healthcare workers, and many more to explain their experiences and losses throughout the pandemic and allow an opportunity for the community to grow closer and understand each other in better aspects. Overall, the Fort York National Historical Site is a must see for those who want to further understand the land that they walk on and the modern Toronto that we reside within or near as well as a further relationship with the community through the current COVID-19 exhibit being held on the grounds.
